Construction Progress

It’s been two months since we’ve had the pleasure of hosting volunteers on our build sites. Despite fewer hands on deck, the Habitat Chicago construction team has worked tirelessly to keep our work on track, with enhanced safety and social distancing measures in place. As a result, we are so proud to announce that we just completed our first eight homes of our newest development in West Pullman.

What’s next? We’re heading back to Union Ave. in West Pullman! In 2019, we completed a 16-home development on this block, and we’re excited to return for our next multi-home development.

Seven Closings

Most importantly, these finished homes mean seven more homebuyers will officially close on their safe and affordable homes, and have a healthy shelter for their families during these uncertain times. This chapter in their journeys to affordable homeownership is closing, but what comes next is sure to bring new challenges, triumphs, and excitement.

A crisis like COVID-19 reminds us all how important it is to have a safe and stable home to shelter in, yet being healthy and safe at home is not a possibility for many of our Chicago neighbors.
