Grant from Amazon's Ring funds resident projects
Habitat for Humanity Chicago receives grant from Ring to support neighborhood revitalization projects in Chicago
CHICAGO, IL – Habitat for Humanity Chicago received a $20,000 grant from Ring, an Amazon company, to support neighborhood resident revitalization projects, including youth programming, community events, and beautification initiatives in the West Pullman and Greater Grand Crossing neighborhoods. The grant is part of Ring’s $100,000 commitment to support Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the U.S. engaging in neighborhood revitalization efforts.
Habitat Chicago partners with residents, community leaders, and organizations to best address neighborhood concerns, and together they create programs that improve neighborhood safety and the quality of life for residents. One such program is Habitat Chicago’s Neighborhood Grants Initiative (NGI), which provides direct funding opportunities for neighborhood residents to work on community-oriented projects together.
“Residents in our focus neighborhoods know what initiatives will ‘click’ within the community to create spaces in which families can thrive,” said Stephen Readus, Habitat Chicago’s Neighborhood Engagement Manager. “This grant from Ring allows us to acknowledge more resident priorities, fund more resident-led NGI projects, and in the end, help support healthy, connected communities.”
Ring and Habitat for Humanity International share a commitment to creating safe and secure places for families to grow. Ring has partnered with Habitat International since 2020 to help bolster the safety and security of families and build more connected communities across the country. Since then, Ring has donated over $1 million worth of Ring Video Doorbells for Habitat homes in certain housing markets and provided a Ring Protect Plan subscription for the life of each donated device. With the donation of Ring Video Doorbells, Ring and Habitat offer families peace of mind when they’re at home and when they’re away.
